Well, we have an array of events awaiting you guys brought to you by the 7th Management Committee.

BUT first things first, SIM STUDENT WEEK!! The 3 day booth event just ended and we're glad to say that many, MANY(n i mean MANY) people signed up!!The SIM ICC is extremely grateful for all those who took the effort and time to come down to sign up.

The next event coming up would be the 11' SIM ICC Orientation. This is to formally invite the new members into our club and would be a good opportunity to get to know everyone. Details would be posted soon. Please vist the Blog and Facebook for more updates!!!

Sports Spectra

Hey guys !! The day is nearing for our netballers and soccer dudes! Yes, Sports Spectra is on this Saturday, 31st July!!

SIM ICC is sending in two teams for the soccer tournaments and one team for the netball tournament. Our friends have been training vigourously for the competition and so we thought we could do our part by cheering them on, on that very important day !

So we are calling out whoever is interested in coming down, to join us and support our dedicated sportsmen :)

YAATRA 2010

Its back! Yaatra 2010. NUS Hindhu Society is producing Yaatra 2010 in August this year and they are inviting former Yaatra and Sangae Participants to join them again.


Yaatra is the only indian musical in Singapore that is organised by students and brings together students and alumni from Junior Colleges, Polytechnics and Universities all onto one stage.


They are welcoming anyone who would like to showcase their talents, improve their own personal standards and also those who want to try new aspects of event organizing. They are still taking in participants for the Pre-Production and Production departments. Also inviting anyone who has expertise in photo/video editing and photography to join them.

So hurry up and join in !!

It has been some time. Hope you guys are doing good.

An event that took place recently was the Aarathanaa Finals. Aarathanaa which was organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic had its finals on 27th April.

Our girls took part in the singing competition's solo and duet category.
All of them gave thier best

We're proud to announce that SINTHIYA clinched the FIRST place for the Singing competition, Solo category !! We are so happy for her and on behalf of SIMICC would like to congratulate her on her achievement. We are looking forward to more of her singing :)

APRIL 14TH , THE TAMIL NEW YEAR!!

The Tamil New Year also known as 'Varushapirapu' falls on the 14th April.

According to the Hindhu Mythology, the creator of the world Lord Brahma started creation on this day. Thus, hindhus celebrate this day as the beginning of the first month, Chitirai of the Tamil New Year.

Traditionally , the day starts out by viewing of auspicious things such as gold and silver jewellery, betel leaves, nuts, fruits, flowers, raw rice and coconut which are placed in the family altar or prayer room. This is especially significant during the celebration as the the first day of the Tamil new year is believed to be indicative of how the rest of the year ahead would be.

Well that was just abit on Tamil New Year.

On March 20th Aarathana Semi finals was held at Singapore Polytechnic Auditorium.

Our girls took part in the singing competition duet and solo catogeries. And we're glad to announce that they have made it through to the finals !!

We would like to congratulate Fairoze and Kayathri for qualifying into the finals for the duet category and Sinthiya for qualifying into the solo category.

We would also like the wish the girls all the best! If you want to catch them in the finals come on down for the finals on the 25th April. Please do read our previous blog update for more details on the finals.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Indian Cultural Society is organizing its annual All-Arts Competition , Aarathaanaa !

They are inviting schools/institutions to participate in the avrious competitions stated below:

3. Dance Competition - Open Category
4. Drama - Open Category

* Open category - Both Tertiary and Secondary Schools will be competing together.

THE YEAR OF THE TIGER HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!

SIM ICC WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL A VERY HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

Since we live in a country that houses a variety of religions and races, it will be nice to know more about them. So i came across this article while reading up a little about Chinese New Year. Thus, i thought it wll be great to share with you all the following :

Chinese have a unique way of representing the New Year through animals. They have 12 different animals to represent each year of the 12 year -cycle and the order remains the same throughout with the year of the rat beginning the cycle and the year of the boar/ pig ending the same.

Chinese New Year of Tiger, 2010 fell on the 14th of February and will mark the 15 day long festivities beginning on the said date.

As the different years of the 12 year cycle are characterized by different animals, people born on the different years also feature different traits and characters and most often then not, they are believed to be influenced and inspired by the animals of the particular year they are born in.

Tiger symbolizes courage, power, earth, victory, passion and royalty. The Tiger years so far have been 1902, 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998 and now 2010 followed by 2022 (according to the 12 year cycle).

Traits of people born in the Chinese New Year of Tiger 2010 : Adventurous, sensitive, emotional, and risk-taking. Those who are born in the Year of the Tiger are smart, uncomplicated and friendly by nature. They have strong will power and never give-up attitude.

Few negative traits : short-tempered and suspicious are generally associated with people born in this year.

Last Month on January 9th, SIM ICC had organised a tertiary level amazing race competition called 'Vettaiyaadu Villaiyaadu'. And we're glad to say that it was a major success. All thanks to our organising committee members, marshalls, volunteers and of course our participants.

Our V2 organising committee had went thorugh months of planning, preparation and hardwork in order to pull through this event. Thus we would like to thank :

As for our participants, we would like to thank each and every participant for taking part and making the V2 journey even more exciting and of course a memorable one.

During our Prize Presentation Ceremony we had the honour of our Guest of Honour DR V P Nair to give away the top three awards to our deserving participants.

Calling All Indian Youths! Come On Out & Join Us For The 1st Race of 2010!

SIM ICC is organising its very own amazing race, Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu 2010 on Saturday, 9 January 2010.

Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu (literally translated as Hunt and Play) is an adventurous action-packed race set across the island, where competing teams proceed from one Checkpoint to another. Teams will be tested through various challenges at each Game Station as they race against the clock.

Participants will sweat it out competing through interesting and exciting obstacles which highly challenge their brain and mind !!

We are organising this event especially for our Indian youths from various post-secondary institutions, including JCs, ITEs, Polytechnics and Universities, nationwide.

BOLLYWOOD NIGHT 09'

We had our Bollywood night last weekend at the Ulu Pandan Campus with fun crowd. We started out with a a song item by Theeben and Sinthiya and proceeding with icebreaker games, birthday celebration for the November Babies, and dinner. After dinner we had a few more fun activities before opening up the dance floor that helped burn a whole lot of calories!

It was great seeing many new faces who were very sporting indeed. We would like to thank those who helped out for the event and those who attended and made it memorable!

SIM Arts Festival & Students Week

SIM ICC had celebrated the Arts Festival and students week during the week of 21st September this year. Our SIM ICC members had put in a lot of effort in coming up with a dance and song item.
