Captain's Ball

The SIM ICC gang had gathered this evening for a friendly game of Captain's Ball at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Sports Complex, where our friends from NTU & RP joined us as well. Today saw the biggest ever informal gathering among ourselves, so it was indeed a delight that most of us could make it for the game, considering how difficult it is to congregate our members on friday evenings due to their personal commitments and evening classes.

Despite being a predominantly female gathering, our 5 boys (Rafi, Ali, Navin, Dinesh & Sanjay) who turned up were sporting enough to join the girls in an exciting and vigorous game, which kicked off around 7pm and ended around 9pm. It was truly an enjoyable experience and good form of exercise for all of us, not to mention that it gave us the well-needed opportunity of strengthening our camaraderie & getting to know some of the members better.

If you're interested in joining us weekly (tentatively on friday evenings) for Captain's Ball or Soccer (dependent on the turnout for the day), please contact Shanjini at 81633464 or Dinesh at 98954567 for more information. Thank you!

SIM Student Buzz Week

In conjunction with the SIM Student Buzz at campus, this week sees the various CCAs hosting & promoting their booths at The Atrium. The 1st few days kicked off with street soccer at the ground level among the various institutions. The school seemed like a bazaar with various make-shift shops selling all kinds of titbits, chocolates, ice-cream, candy floss, handmade products & even gadgets.

There were a number of performances (breakdancing, singing, etc) including the Hey Gorgeous! show by Channel U in campus. Our Indian Cultural Club were given a pretty prominent place to set up our booth at The Atrium. Shanjini & Geetha did this magnificient kolam of the club's logo with orange-colored rice. Many passer-bys took photographs of it. Proud indeed.

The following video was captured yesterday at The Atrium when the babes & the dudes battled it out against each other. Darsha & Gaayathri, followed by Ali & Satheeish. T'was funny watching them fight!

Vasantham Star - Round 3

Vignesh wasn't at his peak at yesterday's performance as he was suffering from throat infection, but that didn't at all compromise his performance, where he rendered the song Babylona. A difficult song indeed with many variations of high pitches, but we're proud that our boy has pulled off the song pretty well to secure himself yet again in the top 5 position. The SIM ICC gang came down this time with banners & posters in strong support for him. In fact, Vignesh's supporters had the most number of banners for today's show!

Please do continue to support & vote for Vignesh!

Aaraathanaa 2007 Semi-Finals

The qualifying round for the Customary Costume Parade (CCP), one of the competitive segments of Aaraathanaa, was held today at The Cultural Theatre at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Satheeish and Darsha did the honour of representing our SIM ICC. They did a 2-minute enactment of a scene from Ramayana, whereby Satheeish don the role of Ravana and Darsha as Sita. All their hard work has paid off and our couple has qualified for the grand finals of Aaraathanaa 2007 to be held on Saturday 6th October 2007 at the Ngee Ann Convention Centre at 4pm.

Special thanks to Uma Mageswari & Mathiarasi who helped our participants with their dressing and make-up. Not forgetting the great support from all our members who were present there! Let us give our utmost support for them at the finals & hope to clinch our 3rd consecutive win this time round!

Ticketing details will be revealed soon. Stay tuned...

Aaraathanaa 2007 Singing Finals

Rekha, Deepa & Lavanya did the honours of representing SIM ICC in the singing category for Aaraathanaa earlier today, whereby Rekha participated in the solo category while Deepa & Lavanya took part in the duet category. They had been practising very hard, despite their busy schedules & various commitments for the past weeks. Despite failing to qualify to perform on the actual day of Aaraathanaa 2007, we are proud to say that the 3 girls showcased their best performance, despite strong competition from other participating schools.

Rekha sang Ethetho Ennam Valarthean from the movie Punnagai Mannan, while Lavanya & Deepa sang Kaatrin Mozhi from the movie Mozhi.

Great job done, girls! We're indeed proud of you!
